冰島公投否決重啟加入歐盟談判 料令布魯塞爾失望

這場公投由冰島總理弗羅斯塔多提爾（Kristrun Frostadottir）的政府推動，並形容這是其加入歐盟計畫「即刻或永不」的關鍵時刻。不過弗羅斯塔多提爾也說過，無論結果如何，她的政府都會繼續相關工作。
冰島對於加入歐盟與否，已斷斷續續討論數十年。2009年冰島脆弱的小經濟體遭到金融危機打擊時，首次申請入盟；但到了2013年，時任對歐盟持懷疑立場的政府終止相關談判。
